October 2022 Meeting Report
Due to the cancellation by our speaker the October meeting was changed to our how to observe evening.
It began with Michael showing us all the different ways we can observe the sun safely with a partial eclipse of the sun visible this month. Very basic equipment is all that is required and the society even has a simple solar projection device which is available for members to use.
Next Lilian explained why you might need to do polar alignment on your mount and the different ways it can be done. Its only really important if you are taking photographs because visually you can always just nudge the telescope although it is nice when it just stays in the centre of the eyepiece
The evening concluded with Lilian showing us how to process an image of Jupiter she took recently using AstroStakkert and Registax
